Is this the default IMAP package that comes along with SuSE? How about other software, such as Courier-IMAP?

What if you stored your passwords in a MySQL database with the crypt() function? But can the SuSE IMAP be recompiled to support MySQL database authentication?

Subject: lug_: Problems with IMAP on SuSE 8.2

I was getting a problem with IMAP applications in SuSE 8.2.  The passwords were being rejected.

http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/imap_ssl.html

Found my problem.  From SuSE 8.2 and above IMAP only allows encrypted passwords, not plain text (unless under SSL).
