Anyway, after the formating, installing and restoring, is when I realised the documents were munged... but not to worry, recalling this list + a very neat utility I have called EasyRecovery, I managed to recover all the documents off the C:> partition, which was now loaded with the newly reinstalled OS.
Mind you, nothing was harmed during the restoration of deleted material on the active C:>. It's like the files never left the damn place :).
