The use of Linux in currently available notebooks is still hampered by numerous restrictions, as a survey in the current issue of c't Magazine 9/05 shows. Hewlett-Packard has now set out to remedy this state of affairs: Before long a special Ubuntu Linux version is to support in all respects the hardware of a number of HP notebooks.
"According to Hewlett-Packard in the models nx6110, nc6120, nc6220, nc6230 and nc6000, as well as in the officially not supported but likewise equipped Subnotebook nc4200, LAN, WLAN, modem and sound, PCMCIA, infrared link, FireWire and Bluetooth--provided the notebook in question has those features--would work under Linux..........
