Hello all,
While attending the Bram Moolenar talk at EACOSS, it hit some techie heads at
that meeting that downloading software for example the recently released SuSE
10 still costs an arm and a leg for the majority of us in Uganda. EACOSS has
a local mirror but since it is (still) hosted on the premises of some other
organisation, it was recently throttled after the sysadmin there realised
that downloads from the EACOSS mirror were chewing a substantial part of his
bandwidth.
EACOSS would still like to offer this service of a local mirror, is it
possible to have this server placed at the UIXP so that it is accessible to
all, fairly? What would it take? Whom do I talk to or "talk" to? Cost
implications?
All suggestions and hints are welcome
Yours in service
