2005 has been a huge year for penguins; they've been everywhere. The
documentary March of the Penguins <http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0428803/>
was a surprise breakout hit in the theaters. They were constantly in the
news, being used by various groups to promote
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/March_of_the_penguins#Political_and_social_commentary>
everything from family values to intelligent design. Further media hype
ensued when Silo and Roy, the famous gay penguins in New York's Central
Park Zoo, broke up
<http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,11069-1799196,00.html>. Even
the Pittsburgh Penguins <http://www.pittsburghpenguins.com/> made it
into the press by drafting Sidney Crosby
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sidney_Crosby>, touted as the next Wayne
Gretzky. And anyone who saw "Madagascar
<http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0351283/>" (Filmfodder review
<http://www.filmfodder.com/movies/reviews/madagascar/20050526.htm>),
available today on DVD, talks about one thing: /the Penguins/. Here are
all the details, and surprise, the penguins play a prominent role.
