  • Software freedom Day* (SFD is a world wide celebration of Free and Open Source Software(FOSS); a global grassroots effort to educate the public about the virtues of and availability of Free and Open Source Software. Our goal in this celebration is to educate the public about the benefits of using high quality FOSS in education, in Government, at home and in business –- in short, everywhere.

LinuxChix Uganda (LCU), in partnership with the East African Center for Open Source Software (EACOSS), will for the third consecutive year, host Software freedom Day 2006 for Uganda at their premises at the Uganda Institute of ICT, Nakawa, Kampala on Saturday September 16^th 2006 from 09.00. am.

The day's theme is *“Open Opportunities with Open Source Software”*. It is an opportunity for everyone to learn about OSS, what is, and what it can do.

Activities include, Free demonstrations of open source applications, Distribution of Software, Free software installation and technical support, competitions, games and a raffle.

Lots of fabulous prizes to be given away to winners include free training courses, Software, Computer peripherals, DVDs, CDs, etc.

The Celebrations are open to the public. Everyone is invited. It is that opportunity to have those nagging questions about Linux, openoffice.org, and other software packages and applications answered only for a smile.

Miss Not!
