I've been getting these NMI errors lately, but nothing as intense as
this from /var/log/messages a few days ago. The error flood did
actually drained a fully charged battery as I watched in awe via xterm
-e 'tail -f /var/log/messages' & trying different commands to stop it.
Nov 23 07:51:31 localhost kernel: Uhhuh. NMI received for unknown
reason b0 on CPU 0.

with your RAM chips

Machine type in question is a Thinkpad X60 running RHEL Server 5.1
(2.6.18-53.el5xen).
I'm sure I don't have a hardware issue (smile) but I'm wondering if
anyone has seen this before. Checked both the ThinkWiki and Madwifi
blogs but there is a lot of trial and error stuff. Also, I found it
more convenient to install the madwifi driver for the wireless card (
Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC
(rev 01)) aka IBM ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini Express Adapter
(AR5BXB6) as i've had no luck with Ndiswrapper and the Lenovo windows
driver for 2 reasons; either the driver installed but no hardware
present or when it does find the driver with the PCI ID matching the
report from lspci -n
net5211 : driver installed
device (168C:1014) present
a modprobe ndiswrapper or modprobe -r ndiswrapper results in ....
EIP: [<c041fa82>] resched_task+0x18/0x15f SS:ESP 0068:da609e38
<0>Kernel Panic - not syncing: Fatal exception
So, if you ever decide to go with a Lenovo Thinkpad, fork that extra
$$ and go with an Intel brand
ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wi-Fi wireless LAN Mini-PCIe US/EMEA/LA/ANZ
[subtract $5.00]
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG
Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 4965AGN (supporting Centrino Pro) [add $40.00]
