RE: INVITATION TO A CONSULTATIVE STAKEHOLDERS MEETING ON THE DRAFT
REPORT FOR BUSINESS PROCESS OUTSOURCING STRATEGY AND MODEL
FOR UGANDA
The Government of Uganda has embraced the integration of Information and
Communications Technologies (ICTs) into the National Development Framework and
identified the same as an enabler and Industry for development of the
country that will
substantially spur growth, increase incomes and employment through
skilled and semi skilled
job creation. To achieve this, the outsourcing industry is
particularly targeted as a major
thrust. This calls for collaborative dedication and strategic
partnership between Government,
the private sector, civil society, academia, development partners and
participation of all
citizens as stakeholders.
It is recognized that there have been some development of the
outsourcing industry.
However, there is an urgent need to stimulate its rapid adoption
through a clearly defined
structured approach. In this regard, the Ministry of Information and
Communications
Technology (ICT) has established a Business Process Outsourcing -
Think Tank Team (BPOTTT)
with a key objective of assessing opportunities of the outsourcing
industry, the capacities
in the country and developing a sustainable model for promoting the
BPO industry in Uganda.
Through a series of consultative meetings with different stakeholders
in the BPO Industry, a
draft Report on the Business Process Outsourcing Strategy and Model
for Uganda has been
developed by the BPO-TTT.
The purpose of this letter, therefore, is to invite you to attend a
stakeholder's consultative
meeting where a draft report will be presented for discussion by all
stakeholders. The
meeting is scheduled to take place on 28th March 2008 at Grand
Imperial Hotel, Kampala
starting at 9:00 am.
Attached is the draft report.
