I tried to download 8.04 last night and accidentally checked the 'alternate cd' it took me less than 15 mins to download the iso. When I redid the download and choose the normal cd. It took about 2 1/2 hours! So for those having trouble, if you don't need the wubi/live cd you can always try the alternate
