no need to buy. The trial version seems sufficient. Same goes for the links Kurup sent some time. Only thing i don't have a dvd-rw drive on an xp installed computer. Ill check if I can create some kind of image with any of the suggested appz and then burn from my laptop. thanks. PS: converting sucks. i don't have the time / patience, plus I have a divx enabled dvd player, so I might actually be willing to pay for the software if they ever to decide to port to osx, which hopefully will happen sooner than later given the increase popularity of didvx capable dvd players.

And now I disprove myself:
If you're willing to buy it there's this program:

Any reason why you don't want to convert them? Short answer is that it's not possible.

Converting avi to dvd or any other format is easy with linux if you have
the ffmpeg pkg. ffmpeg -i myfile.avi -target dvd myfile.dvd More options from "man ffmpeg"
