Hey,
I believe this is the best place to get help. I have installed mysql
on my box,set the permissions and everything however when i issue
mysql_safe,it gives:
mysqld_safe
090626 15:31:13 mysqld_safe Logging to '/var/log/mysqld.log'.
090626 15:31:13 mysqld_safe Starting mysqld daemon with databases from
/var/lib/mysql
090626 15:31:14 mysqld_safe mysqld from pid file
/var/lib/mysql/linux-72es.site.
pid ended
and then with mysqladmin version
i get
mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)'
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket:
'/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' exists!
My box runs opensuse 11.0
