Hi,

In the rough, virus prone and someone-might-steal-your-precious-hardware 
environment that we operate, usign IMAP instead of POP3 to read emails is 
always a good idea. You can read you mail offline, but the server keeps a 
copy. Also, the synchronisation protocal that IMAP uses, is much more 
efficitent than that of POP3 (should you decide to leave your email on the 
server with a POP3 account.)

But biggest advantages: if your laptop crashes or is nicked, your email is 
still there and you can use webmail & offline email reading on the same 
account.
