Ubuntu + Doom/Doom 2 ;)

Try getting a Scumm emulator and hook them up with LucasArts games like Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island, etc.

Also, for the 10-year-old, if you can get on Steam, racing games like TrackMania United are free downloads and come with track editors so the kids can get into building their own race-tracks.

Or, get a NES/SNES emulator for Ubuntu and then you've got access to a huge library of ROM games. N64 emulators work pretty well on Ubuntu as well, depending on your graphics card and drivers, so games like Diddy Kong Racing, Mario 64, Tetrisphere, etc can be at your disposal as well.

If you're looking for games like Math Blaster Mystery or Number Munchers, well, I'm sure there's Linux ports around or Wine is always an option.

... and don't forget Oregon Trail!

Mix it up with a variety of options and see what they go for. I got my eight-year-old next-door-neighbor into Portal back home in the States, so you never know!

Hi Guys

I am looking at dedicating a PC to my kids at home. However, I would like to install a linux Distro that is rich in children's games and I mean starting from 2 year olds to as old as 10 years. Please advise on which one I can use and where I can get it.

PS: Thanks for the generous offers that came my way regarding the online video tutorial I had to view last weekend. I managed to do my thing at the Uganda Christian University and indeed they have BAND-----WIDTH.

regards
