Richard, You kindly offered the I-Network offices for a meeting regards Software Freedom Day 2009. I have a free slot on Friday between 12.00-1.30pm and after a spell say around 3-4pm. I'd prefer the earlier slot to avoid traffic.
So far I have had offers of help from Mountbatten (Reinier), Linux Solutions (James), SchoolNet (Trisha), EACOSS ( Richard et al), LUG (Me & ?), SecondLife (Robert-Jan et al). My main idea so far is for each of us to have a desk or desks set-up demonstrating various Free and Open-Source applications including Windows based ones as I have now received the OpenDisc which has lots of Windows based Free Software. In addition I am thinking of using the 20 Ubuntu Desktop 9.04 CD's along with the SFD press release to send out to media institutions hopefully in return for a little airtime mention of the event, so if you guys have the details of station managers and influential characters please send them over. I'd also like to produce some flyers of Linux User Group meets and details. I will be coming up with a competition on the day for the three SFD t-shirts I have been given also and three OpenDisc DVDs. I'd also like to have a couple of projectors running with demos or talks going on. Another idea would be to have a gaming corner with some PC's configured to run OpenArena or the like as it proved to be quite a crowd pleaser, at the last meeting. How does that sound to all?
