Hi, This Friday October 23d, for the 8th consecutive month, there will be a LUG meeting, our local celebration on how much fun ICT can be. As the poll of this month shows, we will have 2 sessions: http://linux.or.ug/node/36 James Wire will talk about "Is FOSS really Free? Marketing FOSS to make money." So, if you haven't figured out how you can make money without selling licences, this will be a good talk. James recently has been very active with fossfa.net and I am sure a lot of his talk will refer to the very interesting course material they recently published: http://www.ict-innovation.fossfa.net/og/co-editors/wiki/introduction-emerging-floss-business-models And Victor Miclovich and yours truly will each show how to build a Hello World application with their favorite programming framework. For Victor that is Django, written in Python, for myself that is Drupal, written in PHP. If you are still writing your own website pages from scratch, this will definitly be an interesting session to see with how little code you can build a powerful website that is secure, themable and flexible. www.djangoproject.com www.drupal.org Location: EACOSS, Port Bell Road, Nakawa. (from Nakawa, about 500 meters, on the left side) Admission is free. Anyone interested is welcome. If you bring a crate of soda or beer, we will wear your t-shirt during the presentation. People who bring an empty DVD/CD/Harddisk can copy tons of software for free (and legal). And we might have some news to discuss by then as well......
