I found the answer to the rancid - extreme problem I had. I will post
the answer here for anyone else who might experience the same problem.
Below are the working configs (x.x.x.x is the switch's IP address):
extreme description in /usr/local/rancid/.cloginrc
# Extreme Switch
add user x.x.x.x admin
add password x.x.x.x {admin-passwd-here}
add noenable x.x.x.x 0
add autoenable x.x.x.x 1
and in /usr/local/rancid/switches/router.db
x.x.x.x:extreme:up
