For people not familiar with cherokee web server, it's a great alternative to apache. I've used apache off and on for almost 10 years, and I'll never touch it again after using cherokee.
It's mature, lightweight, and stable. It comes with an awesome web-based admin interface, so you'll never touch a conf file again.
