VLC was pulled from the appstore because of a licencing conflict bettwen the
GPL and apple's terms of service. In the way apple distributes its apps,
availability of source code, DRM and the 5 device limit apple imposes for
both paid and free apps.

e-infringing-vlc-license/

This deprives the end user of the software mainly because apple doesn't
allow you to modify the software, considering over 90% of iDevice owners
cannot write for iOS, and every iOS device can access all free apps, isn't
the GPL being too restrictive?

Daniel.
