Paul, Quite interesting ideas therein,
Where do 'little' FOSS institutions like EACOSS go to get companies and communities to 'give back' when the focus is still at a low - Raise a critical mass of FOSS practitioners - even though diversification can get them to take on large tasks like incubation and so on? How do you rely on humanitarian donors like IICD and USAID and yet you know that the real sustainable (read: self-interest based donations) come out of companies like Ericsson and MTN and the likes? How do you walk to Google when your primary (and current) role is to raise critical mass, not to decipher android bugs?? Is there anything for the likes of EACOSS in FOSS communities 'giving back' to FOSS?? #justasking Brian On Wed, Jun 1, 2011 at 9:30 AM, Paul Bagyenda <[email protected]> wrote: > "*Open...and Shut* For years, open-source advocates – including me – have > demanded greater open-source contributions from the world's largest > beneficiaries, from Google to Morgan Stanley and the US Department of > Defense.
