It's not a good practice to hack the core, especially for a public site, 

You run into problems, when updating

However, for an intranet, am at liberty to hack the core, especially if it 
solves my issues, it's a dirty practice but a necessary evil

Whoever came up with killing kittens, is sadistic 

He should have said, when u hack the core, Arsenal concedes a goal
