Hi Robert, If you need a scalable enterprise solution check out Amanda ( http://www.amanda.org/) or Bacula (http://www.bacula.org/).
If you only need to run a few regularly scheduled network backups you should consider using rsync (http://linux.die.net/man/1/rsync) or rdiff-backup ( http://linux.die.net/man/1/rdiff-backup) on a schedule via crontab ( http://linux.die.net/man/1/crontab). Here's a decent tutorial for rdiff-backup: http://wiki.rdiff-backup.org/wiki/index.php/UnattendedRdiff Regards, Kyle Spencer On Tue, Sep 13, 2011 at 12:28 PM, Robert Bakyayita Wamala < [email protected]> wrote: > Roy thanks, > > I forgot to mentions, i am using disks NOT tapes > > rgds > > R.BW > > > > > On Tue, Sep 13, 2011 at 12:21 PM, roy mukasa <[email protected]> wrote: > >> You can try using amanda. >> >> Regards >> >> On 13 September 2011 12:19, Robert Bakyayita Wamala <[email protected] >> > wrote: >> >>> >>> Dear all, >>> >>> I am looking for a reliable Network Backup Solution that can run on >>> either Ubuntu or Debian, >>> >>> Does any one know of one??? >>> >>> Regards, >>> >>> R.BW >>> >>> <http://ug.linkedin.com/in/robertbakyayita/> >>> >>> >>> >>> _______________________________________________ >>> The Uganda Linux User Group: http://linux.or.ug >>> >>> Send messages to this mailing list by addressing e-mails to: >>> [email protected] >>> Mailing list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ >>> Mailing list settings: http://kym.net/mailman/listinfo/lug >>> To unsubscribe: http://kym.net/mailman/options/lug >>> >>> The Uganda LUG mailing list is generously hosted by INFOCOM: >>> http://www.infocom.co.ug/ >>> >>> The above comments and data are owned by whoever posted them (including >>> attachments if any).
