Hi Reinier,
I happen to be in Nairobi, so attending the 1% event at Nailab.
Problem being addressed are;
1. how to prevent post-election violence using technology, in light of
the Kenyan elections coming up next year.
2. education and technology in schools in Kenya
3. road safety and how technology can be deployed to reduce road
carnage in Kenya.
Also be working on an application for text-to-change that will
generate reports from excel based data sheets.
Cheers,
Milton

Hi,
Today, at the Mountbatten/Kampabits/Fruits of Thought offices, 11 people will
gather and represent Uganda in the One Percent Event.
In 8 cities in Europe, Asia and Africa, teams will work on eachothers
challenges.
In Amsterdam, a team of Accenture consultants will work out a concept of a
Facebook app to get Facebook users to share professional knowledge for people
with a vocational education like plumbing, carpentery, car-mechanics etc.
Here in Kampala, we will work on a business-case for a new startup in
Cameroon.
There are several ways to follow the event. There is a live videostream from
every location, and a central 1% show on http://www.onepercentevent.com/live
(select the live stream from Kampala, if you want to see us instead of the
main channel)
Our videochannel also has a dedicated chatbox, that will be womanned by
Darlyne Komumaka the whole day.
The hashtag for the event is #1pce and for kampala #1pce_kampala
You can follow any of the participants, too
