For linux mint there is a list of mirrors:http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=1889 I am not sure which one is closest. From geographical point of view I think south Africa. But this might be different from an internet infrastructure perspective. I am open for comments on this. There are 2 mirros in SA: ftp://ftp.is.co.za/mirror/linuxmint.com/iso/stable/12/linuxmint-12-gnome-dvd-32bit.iso and http://ftp.wa.co.za/pub/linuxmint/iso/stable/12/linuxmint-12-gnome-dvd-32bit.iso For dreamlinux 5 there are only three mirrors mentioned on the site. One is in Twente. http://ftp.snt.utwente.nl/pub/os/linux/dreamlinux/Dreamlinux-5.iso They also post the checksum: MD5SUM Dreamlinux 5 Final ISO 0dc8a36712ce62f1cc2afc12089daee7 I think both distros are dvd size. It goes with their philosophy that everything should work out of the box so they cram as much software and proprietary codecs on the distro as possible.
