Exactly. The justifications are fairly weak as it is, but they become next to useless when one takes into account that while one may trust the current government (yeah, well...), who knows what the government will look like tomorrow? Why give so much power to something so fragile, volatile, and prone to change as a government?
That said, I personally am not overly concerned with organisations trying to track my online habits. I know enough tricks not to be tracked where I do not want to be tracked. But I am concerned for the privacy of others...
