Mark,

Agreed. I think one thing the founder members felt was doing it the 'hard'
way was preferable. Not to caste dispersion's but sometimes when you go the
seeded route there is no incentive to go from that to becoming a membership
funded org. I think we have all seen plenty of examples of that in Uganda.
But yes it does open us up to the claim that until we prove ourselves why
join.

* Thus far we have gotten the association registered
* Formed an organizing committee
* Reached out and met with NITA(U),MoICT
* Reached out to various members of the ICT Community such as Hive Colab,
Outbox etc
* Helped organize this years UIGF
* Attended the Orange Expo last year
* Hired a administrator to help run the secretariat.

Also I'd like to think we have some credibility maybe not with everyone,
but with a growing member of the ICT Community in Uganda.

That having been said we do have a lot more to do. Which is where I want to
take the conversation next. What would you as Mark Tinka like to see the
association do? What would be of value to you? How can we overcome some of
the obstacles facing the ICT Sector in Uganda? How do we help make Uganda a
ICT Hub of Excellence? How can we improve the level of ICT Education?

Simon
