Dear All,

When backing up the MDT of the lustre filesystem, I saw that
one can use "tar" with option --sparse to avoid mistakenly
archiving data with full of zeros. My question is that, Is
there any requirement of the "tar" version for this function ?
For example, I saw GNU tar version 1.20 also supports --sparse
option. Could I use it to backup MDT in the ldiskfs method ?

I don't care about the support of copying extended file
attributes in tar (e.g., -xattrs), since I can use getfattr
and setfattr to do this task.

Thank you for your kindly help.
