Dear all

Can anyone recommend a good source of clear tape for various luthier tasks
around the workshop?

It needs to have a reasonable stickiness, stretchable, and not be too easy to
tear.

I have tried various suppliers over the years, and have never been entirely
happy.

I did use branded scotch tape, having bought a batch about a year ago, but the
rolls left in my stock have insufficient stickiness now, especially if I try to
stretch or put tension in the tape. That is a problem with other unbranded
polypropylene tapes I have tried too. Should I expect these types of tape to
have a shelf-life?

The scotch tape you can get from Staples and other stationery suppliers is the
'easy tear' variety, which tears too easily.

I like the adhesive in branded cellotape, but again it is usually the easy tear
variety that is widely available.

Any suggestions for a good source that is available in the UK or online that
can ship to UK would be much appreciated.

Best wishes

Luke
