Hi,
You should be able to get all you need from Rivolta (Italy), especially
lute ribs, readily sawn to ~3mm :

For the soundboard, you can get it here as well : Le bois de lutherie
(France) : [2]http://www.bois-lutherie.com/bois.html. They know what is
   suitable for lutes.
   Best Regards,
   Jerome

Hello, I am following David von Edwards "Build Your Own Baroque
     Lute"
and I wish to acquire wood, but in my country, there aren't many
     wood
shops and the wood that they do sell is mostly plain sawn or
     generally
low quality, though it is possible to find high quality wood or
     quarter
sawn. I want to know if I need to use quarter sawn parts for the
     whole
lute, and if not, for what parts I need quarter sawn wood.
On the same note, the wood they sell here comes quite thick, and
     most
shops can't get it to 2.5-3mm (and again, it is generally low
     quality
and plane sawn) so is it economical to purchase it over seas and
     then
import it in small quantities, if it is, can you give me links to
     good
shops, preferably in Europe as it close (I'm in mid-east).
