To all: For those in the northeastern Ohio area, I would like to announce an important concert to be held at an excellent venue. Mignarda, a professional vocal ensemble specializing in renaissance polyphony and directed by lutenist, Ron Andrico, will present Italia mia, a program of Italian music of the sixteenth century. Featured will be the music of Josquin, Verdelot, Rore, Lassus, Palestrina, Asola, Marenzio, and Tromboncinos, Bartolomeo and Hippolito. Also featured will be lute solos by Francesco, Marco dal l'Aquila, H. Tromboncino, and several from the 'Chilesotti' manuscript.
The venue is Stan Hywet, a Tudor mansion built early in the 20th century by F.A. Seiberling, founder of Goodyear Tire Company and, more importantly, cousin to my grandmother. Apart from the opportunity to hear excellent quality music, this concert is also important in that Stan Hywet's prestigious Music Room series typically sticks to the usual chamber music format with a string quartet or a piano trio. It is refreshing for a well-established concert series to seek out and hire a professional ensemble performing renaissance music.
