Dear friends at the lute list, Could anybody tell me how close to gut is nylgut?
I started using nylon on my 8 course lute, the strings were thick and the sound was a bit muffled. Then I moved to nylgut, which seemed to me better sounding but I feel I don't have the right gauges because the first and the second courses seem to be too much thin as well as the sound they produce.
