To All: We are very pleased to announce the release of our latest CD, My Lord of Oxenford's Maske. Recorded in response to a special commission, the CD highlights music centered around Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford. Oxford was an important figure in the Elizabethan court and was patron to notable literary and musical luminaries including Edmund Spenser, author of The Fairie Queen, and Robert Hales, later known to be Queen Elizabeth's favorite singer.
Music on the CD includes lute songs with poetry attributed to Oxford as well as featuring lute solos with dedications bearing his name. Also included are several lute solos and duets from the famous Folger lute manuscript, including a few familiar favorites and a handful of world premieres. My Lord of Oxenford's Maske was first made available in a special advance release at the Shakespeare-Oxford Society/Shakespeare Fellowship joint Authorship Conference in Ann Arbor, Michigan, November 9-12, 2006. The CD is now available for online ordering from our web site at [1]http://www.mignarda.com/cds .
