From whatever software I am creating a pdf, I just click "print" in the file menu and select "Adobe PDF" as the "printer." The end result is a pdf that looks exactly as the document would look if I'd printed directly to paper. (Knowing attachments can't go to the list and thus for your benefit only, G, see attached example.)
