Hi Friends,

As we are on the thread of lute-bowls for the would-be builder (if it
wasn't so difficult) I'd suggest a kit from The Early Music Shop.

They state the lute is designed in their own workshops, though I
suspect it is an import from Pakistan.

The bowl is ready-made, which from my own experience is the most
difficult part of making a lute.

Making it yourself will not have the same stigma as a Pakistani lute.
There are dozens of other lute-rose designs on the internet to
customize it to your own liking. Plus you will save at least 50% on
the cost of buying a new one ready made.

I have not bought anything from them myself, but notice they seem to be
more geared towards the lute than ever before. If I was to set about
making another, I'd probably buy their lute-pegs, which is another item
that could be difficult if you don't know a good turner.

   Best Wishes

   Ron (UK)
