I recently had an interesting discussion off list about Saverez KF
strings. I had thought they were merely Saverez's own brand of
polycarbonate/ flourcarbon as offered by other manufacturers. But was
advised that they are in fact "multi-coated" strings, whatever that
means (unfortunately the Savarez website is just as obscure in French
as in English) possibly mostly aimed at the modern harp market but also
have been used with some success on the 6th course of lutes.

Possibly their unique(?) construction introduces significantly more
flexibility/elasticity into the string than the conventional carbonate
type which seems so very stiff and rigid and this produces a better
   response.

I'd be grateful for views of others who have direct experience of these
strings. Are their acoustic characteristics anything the plastic wound
NP range Saverez used to make?

Before anybody tells me to use gut on basses, I often do but also have
a particular reason for looking at synthetic strings with something
   approaching loaded gut characteristics.

   Dear Martin,

Just to you: are not these KF strings merely polycarbonate/

back and was disapointed that this seemed to be the case - rather rigid
   etc
