One of my favorite historical melodies from the early 17th century, originally with a bloody text of great contemporary urgency: it mentions Savur-Moghyla, a hill that saw more bloodshed in the recent Russian invasion if Eastern Ukraine, just as it did 400 years ago. The final stanza describes how Turks tore the heart out of a cossack called Morozenko, and set him up on that hill still alive, facing West: "Now, look at your Ukraine!".

Enjoy!
