Thanks for the advice, it doesn't sound worth persuing the multiple 3G device 
option then.

So I'm back to 4G/LTE support.  Had anyone had a good experience with LTE 
modems on Linux for uploading data?  I don't particularly care about receiving 
data except for ACKs.
