Yep, this looks like my case: http://www.austintek.com/LVS/LVS-HOWTO/HOWTO/LVS-HOWTO.localnode.html#two_box_lvs_active_active If the backup director has ipvsadm entries then even though it's not receiving packets directly from the internet, a connection request can be forwarded from the active director. The backup director will attempt to loadbalance this request, which could be sent back to the active director. You are now in a loop.
