thanks for the relpy, yeah sorry about the interface i'm using the raw 
interface. There is no OS, the app is all one single process, so everything is 
in the same context........Please find attached my telnet socket interface, 
plus a comms trace for viewing by the community........

I'm not sure about your particular circumstances, but assertions of
this sort are often caused by locking errors.  You don't say which API
you're using to access lwIP, but could it be that you have two threads
active in the stack at the same time?
