Yeah, indeed i meant the checksum calculations. I've enabled all the checksum calculations by LwIP (both gen and check) - the transfer works with a performance penalty of 50% (25 MBit/2 -> 12.7 MBit/s). So, yes it seems to be an HW or driver issue.
