Can you configure the panel? If yes, then in the Panel Preferences
dialog, choose the "Advanced" tab, and set the log level to "All". If
this is not possible, please give lxpanel the option "--log 5" on the
command line.

Then try again, and send me your ~/.xsession-errors file. This should
give some clue as to what is happening with the panel.

Also, which version is this?
