I just wanted to try out LXQt, but it has too much baggage (more than what LXDE requires); I OTOH need only a very basic lightweight compact desktop like LXDE, or even smaller. I was hoping that LXQt would be smaller than LXDE, but no it unfortunately seems to follow the gigantomania of Gnome and KDE :-( I wonder why it needs to install components of/for samba, ssh, gnome, pam, gstreamer, and many more IMHO unrelated/unneeded stuff for a lightweight desktop environment.
Folks, pls take my advice: to have it in C++11 and Qt is wonderful, but keep it small and compact with as less external dependencies as possible. I have over the years learned to hate Gnome (because of their dictatorial policies and changes which had become maybe even worser than Microsoft's past policies), so I personally don't want see anything of Gnome or KDE, or mobile-cr*p on my desktop system anymore.
