This isn't an issue I can solve, the issue is administrative.
With modern Cython the issue is resolved entirely. But fixing it requires
cutting 4.9.3 or 5.0.0a with current Cython and CPython manylinux latest that
incorporates the 3.12, and that's not something I can really submit a PR for.
