It works for me; lynx's log reveals 1 redirection:

Oct 19 20:37:37 randytool lynx[1370]: https://www.gandi.net/en
https://www.gandi.net/fr worked too, 'cept it's French - yuck!

If logging's on, you can see what the redirections are, and
let us know.
