[Lynx-dev] lynx on xfce terminal freezes during "making https connection to..."

lynx on debian bookworm + xfce.
using xfce terminal to access
website using lynx.
visit few webpages daily.
i have bookmarks list.
how do i access websites:
$ lynx
v [bookmark list]
highlight desired website from list
press enter

the issue: xfce terminal freezes during "making https connection to..." 
using above method.
if i use g: url, terminal freezes

if i open gui browser, it opens fine
