The expert on the "Lynx_kit" is Rene Ludwig, who distributes this.
Rene is usually willing to help with problems of Lynx_kit setup
(http://www.rene4u.com/home-eng.htm). The usual problem with "can't
access startfile" is that the startfile is unavailable. This can be
for many reasons, from a bad connection to the server being down. The
simplest thing is to set the startfile to a file on the hard disk.
This can be done in the lynx.cfg file. Look for a line near the top
starting with "STARTFILE:". Have it look something like:
STARTFILE:file://localhost/c:/lynx/lynx_hel/lynx_hel.htm

Make sure that there is no "#" at the beginning of the line and that
the file exists at the exact location to which you point.

The lynx binary in lynx_kit is from April 1999. If you want to try a
newer version (but different setup), see
