In order to use RealPlayer as a helper app in Lynx for
Win 95, I put the following line in a .mailcap file,
following the directions in HELPER.TXT that came with
http://www.jim.spath.com/lynx_win32/lynx_w32.zip.

audio/x-pn-realaudio; C:\more\RealPlayer\realplay.exe %s

and I enabled PERSONAL_MAILCAP:.mailcap in lynx.cfg.

But to no avail.

I do not have a global Mailcap file. I do have the lynx
directory in my path. I do have a working copy of RealPlay
installed, and a lynx.bat with:

    set term=vt100
    set home=c:\lynx
    set temp=c:\temp
    set lynx_cfg=c:\lynx\lynx.cfg
    c:
    cd \lynx
    c:\lynx\lynx.exe -noblat %1 %2 %3 %4 %5

Here are the instructions from HELPER.TXT:

>Using raplayer with Lynx in Win95 (and maybe NT?). It takes a little
>work. First you need to have raplayer and have it in your path. Next
>you need to have a HOME variable pointing to a valid directory. Then
>you create a .mailcap in the home directory (It works in Win95) and
>put this in it:
>
>audio/x-pn-realaudio; raplayer %s

BTW this Lynx/Win95 program is wonderful: it's the old
fast and faithful Lynx. It's also a unique experience
on Windows -- speed, power, control, and elegance. Using
RealAudio with Lynx is just icing on the cake; but now
that I've found quantities of great Bulgarian and
Macedonian folk music -- plus my favorite, boogie
woogie -- I'm naturally greedy to aim my trusty Lynx
at this booty and save lots of time.

Does anyone know what I did wrong? Or can you point me
to an explanation of how to use mailcap?

Jackson
