The behavior I was seeing is that when hitting return on the selection,
the box with the various selections would display but nothing typed would
ever cause the box to collapse. As I said, I deleted all the 'working'
parts of the html as irrelevant. After following the tip to do the make clean
to get the versions of lynx synced up, I find it also corrects the other
problem I was having...
