In my case it means first d)ownloading to my account on a Unix machine,
then transferring the file to my Windows machine and finally viewing with
some program like Photoshop. Until last year, that meant putting the
file on a floppy and going down the hall about 50 yards to borrow a
machine that could display the junk. It's easier to just use MSIE in
the first place than fool with Lynx. I access Lynx by telnet essentially.
That means no graphics (thank goodness).
I tend to agree with Ismael here from empirical experience. The tables
were entirely turned around in Lynx2.6-2.7, i.e., it was ncurses Lynx that
couldn't handle the background erasure, whereas the slang screen was much
cleaner. My guess would be that a repaint is not being done somewhere in
a way that is compatible with the slang routines. Neither ncurses nor
slang are perfect; they both have to make compromises to survive in an
imperfect world. Try driving a Cadillac on Japanese roads. I guarantee
you'll feel more comfortable in a plain old Toyota.
