Hi LyXers,
there are still problems with spurious empty lines before
displaymath. They result from spurious double spaces in the LyX file:
1) Open new doc.
2) Enter "bla . <Return>" into one paragraph (note the spaces around
the ".")
3) Insert a display math into the next paragraph
4) Remove the "." in the first paragraph. Note that you now have two
spaces which are not compressed into one!
5) Remove the newline too, i.e. goto the end of the first paragraph
and press "delete-forward"
6) typeset with "view dvi"
There is a big space between bla and the formula, the .tex file reads

bla %
\[
a\]
-------
the empty line contains the second space.
