Please humor me, as this idea may not be the most practical.

What would it take to create a web interface to LyX?

Here's my situation... I'm a C++ programmer. My employer is moving toward
e-commerce, an area in which I have no experience. In order to maintain at
least a little job security, I need to learn some new skills, which I find
quite difficult to do without having a specific task to apply them to; thus
the idea for an online word processor.

To start out simple, one page would have a text entry field and a drop down
list for selecting what environment to apply to that field. For the WYSIWYM
aspect, I could use the LaTeX2HTML utility. When finished, the user can
download the generated postscript file, or perhaps a PDF file generated by
the ps2pdf utility.

I know that a utility as described above is overly simple and not very
useful, however it's a starting point and can be easily expanded upon. To
provide most of the functionality of LyX would probably require the use of
several Java applets, but hey! one thing at a time;)

Any suggestions are more than welcome.
Thanks!
